GRADEX is more than a detector. It is a complete ecosystem for the modern card collector.
A counterfeit can copy the artwork; it cannot copy the physics. A 14-channel spectral sensor spanning 380–1000 nm reads the specialty-ink formulation and the black-core transmission signature, while a macro camera on the device captures the print texture at close range — three layers the eye cannot check.
Trading happens inside the app, and every trade is verified from both sides — the seller proves the card, the buyer checks it again on receipt before the trade closes.
Pair the app and your phone's camera takes over identification and colour analysis. The card is recognised, the colour is measured, and the record is filed against your collection — the device does the physics, the phone does the looking up.

Every step is recorded on the device, and the result is a risk grade both sides can check. From unboxing to authentication, the record lives on the device — not on someone's word.
Buyer receives the package and starts the unboxing with the GRADEX device recording. No cuts, no interruptions — the entire process is continuous.
The device reads the card's ink, print and paper — the three layers a counterfeit cannot copy — and returns a risk grade on the spot.
The result is locked to the transaction inside the app. The seller's scan is attached, the buyer re-verifies on arrival, and both sides confirm before the trade settles.
If a return is needed, the seller authenticates the returned card under the same protocol. Spectral data must match the original scan — disputes are resolved on verifiable device data, not word against word.

The specialty-ink spectral formulation of a controlled region on the card back. Four spot colours whose absorption edges cover 405–680 nm — a forger would have to match all four at once.
The transmission signature of the card's black core at 855 nm in the near infrared. It is also how printings are told apart: the same black core reads as normal on a US printing and as an anomaly on a Japanese one.
The print texture and security markings, captured at close range by the macro camera on the device. A fine-grained review layer, read alongside the photograph your phone takes when the app identifies the card.
Idle, the device samples its own light source every five seconds and normalises each channel at measurement time — so it is immune to LED colour drift and ready the moment you pick it up.

Counterfeits match colours; they do not match ink — in the high-quality fake we measured, the yellow ink was matched (0.39×, pass) while the white and red inks were not (4.29–5.35×, all over the limit). The better the forgery, the more the spectral formulation gives it away.
